Almost There and Back Again

Chapter 12

He had her pressed so hard against some poor saps car they were going to leave a big dent in it if they didn’t move soon. The direction they were headed, the hood was going to be the backdrop for their first time any minute now.

It was a good thing the nearest street light was a block away. They sure didn’t need their activities illuminated for all to see any more clearly than the dark shadows were already emphasizing. His hand was up her shirt massaging her breasts, having popped the clasp on her bra much earlier for better access to them. His mouth was hot on hers, their tongues practically fighting each other for control, their moans escaping between heavy breaths.

Haley’s hand traveled down to his pants, wanting to feel the hardness she felt pressed against her – her actions eliciting a long groan and panted breaths as his mouth moved down her neck, his hands mauling the flesh beneath her shirt.

“Stop…stop it,” he panted out pushing her hand brusquely away from him.

“Come on…,” she whimpered reaching for him again.

“Haley…don’t,” he groaned. “I…god stop it!” he said with a ragged breath pulling completely away from her.

“Mmmm Nathan come back here,” she whimpered again reaching out to pull him back, Nathan backing quickly away from her, struggling to catch his breath.

“Haley I…don’t okay…I have to…I can’t take anymore…alright – please just let me catch my breath…I need to calm down for a second,” he said drawing in a deep breath. His back to her, hands on his hips as he drew in deep breaths, blowing them out slowly.

The break wasn’t helping Haley, just staring at his perfect back; his perfect butt staring back at her, his deep breathing was doing nothing for hers. Quickly reaching under her shirt to re-hook her bra, she pushed away from the car grabbing his hand as she went by, jerking him along behind her, Nathan almost stumbling at the sudden unforeseen lurch to his body.

“What the hell Haley? I can’t breathe here…” he blew out still trying to gather his footing behind her hurried steps.

“Just keep moving,” she threw quickly back to him.

He got his gait together, but still dragged a step behind her. Her short legs moving faster than his long ones could muster up at the moment. Her breathing quickening with the pace as Nathan began to recapture a more normal rate.

“Where in the hell are we going?” he finally got out.

“My room.”

“What for?” he asked his confusion growing.

“I’m sure.”

“You’re sure? You’re sure? What the hell…you’re sure? What’s that mean?” he questioned falling in step with her at last, his puzzled face peering around to hers.

“I told you I’d know I was sure when I was sure…and I’m sure.”

“You’ll know you’re sure when you’re su…OH! Oh hell. Oh…hot damn – move it Pinky!” he laughed grasping her hand tighter pulling her with him now - Haley giggling loudly behind him.

“Come on…come on,” he grumbled at the elevator, punching the button again, Haley laughing at his impatience.

“Go,” he said practically shoving her through the door. Leaning up against the corner, Haley standing with her back to him as she pushed the button for her floor – a group of giggling girls crowded on as the door started to close – Nathan let a low groan out as he watched them push various floors. “Shit,” he mumbled.

“Hi Nathan,” said a large chested brunette, her perfect teeth smiled broadly at him, the others smiling along with her.

“Hi,” he muttered back, barely glancing at her – his eyes glued on the rising numbers above the door.

Haley cut her eyes at the girl…at all the girls now looking Nathan up and down. Holding her hands behind her back, letting one of them trail up and down the front of his pants, giving the girls a tight smile as she did.

Nathan sucked in a quick breath, clearing his throat, discreetly sneaking his hand in front of him trying to push Haley’s away - their fingers fighting each other, Haley biting hard on her lip to keep from laughing.

“Do you remember me?” the brunette asked, smiling sweetly at him again.

God - please leave me alone he wanted to scream at her. He looked at her again…no clue. “Ummm, I’m…no I’m sorry I just…can’t quite remember. Sorry,” he said again, Haley’s hand once again finding him as he was distracted. The moan almost escaped as he felt himself start to stiffen at her actions.

“I’m Candy…Candy Hall…Ty Hall’s little sister. Remember? I went to a dance at school with Tim one time, and then we all went to your house and partied…,” smiling at him once more, flipping her hair as she straightened her posture, her chest pushing out further with it.

Haley wouldn’t leave him alone. Enjoying the discomfort she was causing him more and more. Proud of her efforts at keeping him distracted from this Candy chick’s chest she was so desperately trying to display for him.

He could feel himself starting to sweat…this freakin’ elevator couldn’t go any slower if it tried he whined to himself, glancing quickly at the numbers again…almost there…

“Oh yeah…okay sure Ty’s sister. Sure I remember now. You went with Tim yeah,” he smiled…he didn’t remember shit about her. Any girl who would consent to go anywhere with Tim had to be an idiot, and therefore unworthy of a minute of his attention he’d long ago decided. “Up here visiting I guess.”

“Yeah, there’s a bunch of us seniors from Tree Hill up here this weekend to look around. There’s supposed to be this great party tonight at the Sigma Nu house…you should so come,” she beamed at him, flipping her hair again.

The elevator chimed out at Haley’s floor just as Candy closed her mouth. He had such a hard on he was afraid to move, his hand quickly wrapping around Haley’s waist holding her in front of him as they moved awkwardly out the door. “I’m probably going to be busy, but you ladies have a good time,” he threw out to her as he and Haley got off.

Haley burst into laughter the minute the door closed.

“What the hell were you doing?” he half chuckled, a slight blush on his face, looking down at himself. “Jesus Haley there was like ten girls in there, and you’re making me harder by the second,” he whispered to her as they hurriedly moved toward her room.

“I see that,” she giggled reaching over to touch him again.

“Quit!” he laughed swatting her hand away.

“I just didn’t want you to loose any momentum.”

She took his hands, smiling up at him as she backed toward her bed. He wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her to him, their eyes locking on each other before he left a soft lingering kiss on her lips.

He brushed the hair back from her face, tucking it behind her ear for her. “Are you sure you’re sure?” he asked quietly.

“I’m very sure I’m sure,” she smiled, draping her arms around his neck trying to tug his lips down to hers.

“Because I’m thinking I may not be able to stop this time…I just want you to be sure…do this for you not me okay.”

“And I’m thinking I could prove to you just how sure I was if you’d stop talking,” she whispered, pushing her mouth up to his.

The little smile wouldn’t leave her lips. Everything he was doing to her felt so good, felt so right she couldn’t help herself. The way his mouth was moving across her bare stomach, his hands massaging down her thighs while her own hands played though his hair had the smile spreading. He glanced up to her face, the smile there making one of his own form.

They’d shed their clothes long ago, he could barely believe he was finally feeling her warm naked body beneath his. She was even more perfect than she’d been in his dreams. He’d seen more and more parts of her body over the last several months, but never all of it, never all at once. She was so perfect, so beautiful, it was breathtaking.

He moved back up to take her mouth, pulling back to brush the stray hairs from her face, leaving soft kisses on her lips as they gazed into each others smiling eyes.

“I love you,” she whispered kissing him again, her hand stroking gently down his cheek.

“I love you too,” he whispered back. He laid his forehead against hers trying to gather some control over his body again. The way her hands were kneading his back, his butt, the way her fingers were weaving through his hair, her lips now moving across his jaw, her tongue tracing a wet line down his neck had his breathing rate going up, the control getting worse not better.

Neither of them could hold back any longer, their mouths hungrily taking the others, his tongue searching every inch of her mouth, the moans it elicited sending him further, covering her small body with his.

She wrapped her legs around him, the feel of his erection pressing against her making her own breathing quicken even more. The way his mouth had taken her breast again, sucking on her hardened nipple, his teeth grazing gently over it, his tongue tracing between them as he gave them equal treatment had her making little gasps, the moaning of his name certain to be heard through the thin walls as she ground her hips up into him harder, urging him to take her.

She gasped out at the feel of his hand sliding between her legs, Nathan groaning into her neck at the feel of her pure heat in his hand. Haley practically whimpered at the weakness she felt taking her over as his fingers played between her legs.

“I think you’re sure too,” he whispered hot against her mouth.

“Please say you have something,” she barely got out through her moans.

“What?...oh god…yeah,” he mumbled to her, pushing himself up off her, grabbing up his pants, his wallet quickly following. He opened it, rummaging thorough it, checking one place and then another, “no, no, no…this can’t be happening…,” his hands moving frantically through his wallet.

“You don’t?” Haley whined watching his frantic movements.

“I do…I do…I swear to god I have to,” his voice growing more agitated, things from his wallet falling all over the floor as he tore through it. “Here…I found one…whew,” he sighed holding it up, grinning down at her.

“Excellent,” she grinned back at him. “Let’s use it…now,” she smiled pulling him back down to her.

The smile wouldn’t leave as she left little kisses all over his face. The one on Nathan’s face growing broader until he began chuckling at her.

“I think somebody’s happy,” he smiled taking her lips for a lingering kiss before easing off her body to lay beside her, both of their fingers tracing languid lines across their tangled bodies.

“And satisfied,” she replied with a little giggle popping a quick kiss on his lips.

“Good – me too,” he said with another smile.

She started to giggle again, quickly throwing her hand across her mouth trying to stifle it.

“Spill it,” he said curious.

“I was just thinking,” she giggled again, “you weren’t kidding when you made that comment about big feet. I see what you were talking about now…you’re right - it’s definitely not just a rumor,” unable to contain a full out laugh.

“Yeah okay Hales,” he mumbled with a light chuckle feeling the heat on his face.

She raised her head to look at his face more closely, laughing again at what she saw. “Why Nathan Scott – I do believe you’re blushing.”

“I don’t blush,” he proclaimed turning redder.

“Oh you are sooo blushing. You said you had a big one, I was just agreeing with you – nothing to be embarrassed about,” she shrugged giggling again.

He gasped at her bluntness. His Haley did not talk like that. “Oh my god – I did not say I had a big one – not that I… Who are you anyway? My sweet little Haley doesn’t talk about the size of a guys…you know. Jeez. One good screw and you turn all…all…potty mouth on me,” he said failing at his attempts to sound disgusted or hide the smile.

“Your Haley may not, but I guess your Pinky does,” she laughed. “It sure was a good screw…and you do have a big one,” she whispered wiggling her eyebrows at him, causing him to break out in laughter at her silliness.

“You’re crazy…get over here,” laughing as he tugged her on top of him, their lips melding together.

She pulled away after several increasingly heated minutes, both of them feeling the control going and the desire building. She left one more long kiss on his lips. “Unless you have another condom hidden somewhere in that wallet of yours we might ought to stop,” trying to convince herself as much as him.

“Go get one from Brooke or Peyton,” his lips continuing down her neck.

“I am not going over there to ask for a condom! Oh my god Nathan – I can’t do that…how embarrassing!”

“You know they have one. I mean they both are…they have one believe me,” he said making his way across her chest.

“Mmm Nathan…stop. We don’t have anything, and we can’t take a chance,” she said trying to lift his head from her chest.

“You want me to go ask? Cause it won’t bother me in the least” he said quickly starting to push himself up.

“No! Please don’t do that. They probably aren’t even there,” hoping against hope she was right. She didn’t think she could bear the smirks and barbs the two of them would throw her way for the next several weeks if either her or Nathan went and asked for a condom.

“Haley…crap alright,” he groaned flopping back on the bed.

“I’m sorry.”

He looked over at her, the sad eyes, her absolutely perfect face glowing back at him made it hard to even be the least bit annoyed. The first time had been so spectacular, just so perfect; he didn’t want to ruin it by getting all huffy about not getting seconds.

“It’s okay Hales,” he smiled rubbing softly over her cheek with the back of his hand. “I love you. Thank you for tonight. It was perfect. It was worth the wait.”

“It was for me anyway,” she beamed back at him.

They woke the next morning cuddled under the covers their bare bodies tangled together this time.

“Hey,” he whispered dropping a kiss on her cheek.

“Shhhh,” she whispered back.

“What?”

“I’m listening to the birds chirping,” she whispered again before breaking out in giggles.

“What time is it?” she groaned.

He rolled to his back reaching for the clock on the desk next to him. “Eight.”

“Ugh!” she groaned again, “I have History at nine I need to get up and get a shower,” curling her body more tightly into his.

“Don’t move too fast now,” he chuckled wrapping his arms around her unmoving body.

“You’re warm,” she giggled kissing his chest. “I have to get up,” climbing over him, Nathan making lewd remarks as she went, the blush spreading over her entire body at his comments.

“Who’s blushing now?” he teased. “Awfully modest in the light of day aren’t we,” he laughed folding his arms behind his head watching her gather her things for the shower.

“You still have a big one,” she whispered through her giggle before opening the door and going out, Nathan laughing at how her own comment made her blush even deeper.

She hadn’t taken five steps out her door when Brooke and Peyton’s door flew open, Peyton coming hurrying through it, Brooke standing in front of the mirror doing her makeup.

“Hey Haley – I’m just going to borrow you’re hair dryer mines acting all wacky, and Brooke’s is totally gone,” Peyton threw out to Haley’s retreating figure opening Haley’s door just as she heard Haley shout “NO!”

“Why?” Peyton asked continuing through Haley’s door.

“Morning Peyton,” she heard Nathan’s voice, her head spinning away from the door where she was looking for Haley, to see him laid up in Haley’s bed, arms folded behind his head, the covers barely coming up to his waist, his bare chest and partially bare leg staring back at her.

“Well, well, well,” she grinned back at him then at Haley who now stood in her doorway holding her head in her hand, her eyes glued to the floor. “Morning Nate. I guess you guys worked it all out,” smirking at the both of them. Haley wanted that spot on the floor to take her under - Nathan completely unfazed by any of it.

“You could say that,” he smirked back, Haley shooting him an annoyed glare.

“I’ll umm…I’ll just get the dryer,” Peyton said biting off the giggle. “Oh Brooke…you need anything from Haley?” she called out to Brooke – Haley giving her a completely dirty look, Nathan fighting off the laugh.

Brooke climbed off her stool, the eyelash curler still attached to her eye as she shuffled across the hall, “Huh?” she asked confused. “I don’t need any…,” suddenly seeing Nathan’s obviously undressed body stretched out in Haley’s bed. “Oh…hi Nate…I told you Peyton,” she grinned at her.

“What?” Peyton questioned, pretending ignorance to her reference.

“Those noises we heard last night…I told you they were coming from Haley’s room. Sounded like fun guys…congratulations,” she smiled shuffling back across the hall, clearing the doorway just as a group of girls went down the hall all of them glancing toward the open door. The sight of Nathan’s bare chest being taken in by every one of them as the group broke out into wild giggles. “Wasn’t that Nathan Scott?” one of them could be heard to whisper.

“Yeah it’s Nathan Scott – what of it?” Haley yelled after them totally pissed about the whole situation - Nathan and Peyton laughing at her, receiving a hateful glare from her before she stomped off toward the shower again.

“Later,” Peyton smiled at Nathan closing the door to Haley’s room as she went back to her own.

By the time Haley got back to her room Nathan was dressed sitting on the edge of the bed getting his shoes on. She gave him another irritated stare before she began putting her things away, pulling clothes off the hangers.

“I love you,” he tried, wrapping his arms around her waist pulling her back into his chest.

“Yeah,” she mumbled taking a clean pair of jeans off the hanger.

“I do,” he said trying to bite back the laugh, leaving warm kisses down her neck. “Something wrong?” Please don’t laugh he kept preaching to himself.

“Oh nothing – nothing at all. Not only do Peyton and Brooke know we had sex last night, but now half the floor does too. ‘Isn’t that Nathan Scott,’” she mocked the group of girls. “Ohhh! ‘Isn’t that Nathan Scott,’ she mocked again. “I should go down there and tell her….Ahhh! Tell her ‘yes it was Nathan Scott…he’s MY boyfriend, and he fucked me crazy last night. How do you like that you nosy bitch! Ewww!,” she growled again stomping her foot in frustration.

“Well if Peyton and Brooke are any judge…the whole floor may already know I fucked you crazy last night,” he said unable to hold the laugh in any longer.

She spun around in his arms, pushing him away from her, putting her hands on her hips giving him another hateful glare, “You may leave any time now,” she spit slowly back at him.

“Haley…,” the smile still on his lips, trying to reach for her.

“Go.”

“Okay I’ll go,” quickly pulling her into his arms holding her tightly to him still biting back another smile. “I love you Haley. I guess I’ll go take a shower and study for my crappy Philosophy quiz. I’ll see you later,” dropping a quick kiss on her lips before she could turn her head away.

“I love you too,” she mumbled trying to wriggle out of his grasp.

He couldn’t hide the smile as he shut the door behind him, looking up to see Brooke and Peyton grinning like idiots at him - all three of them chuckling quietly together before Nathan left down the hall.

She sat in her history class listening to the teacher drone on about…something – what was it he was talking about she asked herself looking down to her notebook only to find a blank page staring back at her. She gave a sideways glance toward the guy next to hers notebook to see it had notes written all down the page.

Crap, she thought, I hope he wasn’t talking about something important. Trying to focus once again on what he was saying - her mind wandering to last night, and Nathan’s mouth moving over her body. She could see it all so clearly in her mind – as if it was happening at that very moment – he was lying on top of her moving in her…god it felt fantastic, the kisses, the touches, his hands all over her, his mouth all over her…the way he started slowly…building until he was pushing harder and harder into her, and so fast she could barely catch her breath it felt so good…she startled at the sound of the guy next to her noisily clearing his throat.

She shot him an irritated glare before shifting around in her seat staring once again at the professor. Her eyes drifted toward her neighbor again when she felt his eyes on her – finally turning more fully toward him, giving a scowl to his still staring eyes.

“Do you have a problem?” she bit out under her breath at him.

“I don’t, but I think you might,” he said with a quiet chuckle, Haley seeing the two guys in front of her shoulders shaking as they laughed too.

“Excuse me?” she snapped back at him.

“Sex…it’s definitely theater of the mind for girls isn’t it,” he whispered loud enough for the two sitting in front of her to hear, all three of their bodies shaking in silent laughter.

Haley’s eyes flew wide at his words. “What did you say…you better watch it jackass before you find my foot up your ass!” she growled under her breath.

“Just keep it down will ya. Save the moaning and sighing for your boyfriend – makes it hard to concentrate on history with that kind of racket going on around me,” he barely got out before full laughter broke out of all of them – the professor pausing to take them in with a harsh stare. The three stooges quickly quieted down to a silent laugh again.

Haley was fuming, wanting desperately to slap his smart ass face, but he’d already brought enough unwanted attention to her. The sounds going on in her head must have made their way to her mouth without her realizing it – only to be heard by every male around her. How completely embarrassing! They knew she’d been sitting there having sex in her head while the professor carried on about the Middle Ages. Whatever - like they’d never done it she huffed to herself.

She glared over at the clock…god she still had thirty minutes of torture. Between the thoroughly boring subject and asshole, asswipe, and just plain ass sitting around her she was consumed with irritation. Oh screw this she finally told herself - I’m gonna go have sex – closing her notebook, snatching up her purse – tossing the ass next to her another withering look before turning on her heels, and marching out right in the middle of class.

The closer she got to Nathan’s dorm the more nervous she got, the lip chewing and hair tucking being repeated over and over. What was she supposed to say – hi I want some…would you mind screwing me…I was just moaning in history class and figured since I was thinking about it I may as well come on over and get some…god this was so…stupid! Why am I even going over here – Lucas is probably sitting in the room with him. I suck she told herself never stopping her steps toward Nathan.

“Hey Haley,” she heard him greet her from the steps above.

Her head shot up at the sound of her name drawing her out of her discussion with herself. “Oh hi Lucas,” she smiled up at him.

“I was just…umm – just going to see if Nathan was home…is he?” she asked timidly.

“Yeah he’s there. Are you okay?” he asked her flushed face worrying him briefly.

“Me? Oh god yes,” she scoffed, “just thought I’d come by,” smiling at him.

“Sure. Well he’s there. I’ll be gone to class for a while, and then over to the gym so…it’s all yours,” he chuckled knowingly as he went past her.

My god! Can everyone read my damn mind she whined to herself. I must have horny stamped on my forehead or something, wiping her hand across her head.

She knocked on his door, twisting the knob when she heard him yell ‘come in’.

He was propped up in his bed, clad only in a pair of basketball shorts, his philosophy book laid across his lap.

“Hey,” smiling at the unexpected sight of her.

“Hi,” she said quietly, shutting the door behind her, leaning back against it lusting at his perfectly chiseled body stretched out on his bed.

“I thought you had class?” he asked hesitantly, trying to read her expression from where she still stayed leaned against his door.

“I did…I do,” she stammered. “But I…I left early.”

“Okay,” a small smile on his lips. “Are you okay Haley?”

“Yeah…I just umm…,” swallowing hard, still uncomfortable with her current feelings. Her eyes sweeping over his body, her breathing rate increasing as she continually licked her lips and played with her hair.

“Come on over,” Nathan smiled holding his hand out to her still confused by her sudden appearance. Haley never skipped class. Never.

“Look…,” she started her hand resting on her hip, not moving closer, glancing at the ground, frustrated with her lack of nerve. “Okay…look…I was in class and I was…I was…sitting there…thinking about last night. And well…I want to do it again,” she sighed shaking her head at herself.

“Fine by me,” he chuckled.

“I mean…I want to do it again…like – right now – again right now,” rolling her eyes sighing again as she folded her arms harshly across her chest, trying to steal a glance at him.

“Okay,” he shrugged trying not to laugh at her fluster.

“Okay? Really?” she asked hopefully.

“Hell yes really,” a small laugh escaping.

“Okay,” she smiled taking a step toward him, “Wait…did you find some more condoms?”

“Oh yeah,” he grinned pulling open his desk drawer to reveal condoms scattered all around in it.

Haley peeked over to look before grinning back at him reaching in to take one out, quickly grabbing another one before he could shut the drawer causing Nathan to bust out laughing.

“Are you laughing at me?” a small frown crossing her face.

“No…I am definitely not laughing at you. I’m just surprised…and happy – happily surprised.”

“Good…because I need to get laid so bad you wouldn’t believe,” she giggled, quickly slipping her shoes off, her jeans resting in a heap on top of them, her shirt landing somewhere behind her, Nathan’s eyes growing wider with each movement. Oh boy…this is gonna be fun, he smiled to himself as Haley crawled on top of his body, crushing her lips hungrily to his.

Chapter 13

“GOD would you quit that shit already!” Lucas blew out jumping off his bed to snatch the rubber ball out of the air before it reached Nathan’s hands again. Lucas couldn’t take anymore, he’d been throwing that stupid thing up there non stop for the last thirty minutes.

“Hey, give me that!” he protested trying to grab the ball back before Lucas opened the door and tossed it down the hall. “Damn it Lucas!” he bitched hustling down the hall to retrieve the ball before it made it to the stairs.

“Ball,” Nathan ordered holding his hand up to the short guy at the end of the hall who was now standing there tossing the ball in the air, a smug little smile on his face. “Ball…now,” he repeated his tone as threatening as he intended.

“Better give the baby his ball,” Lucas called out from his bed, “he’s not getting any, and he’s cranky as hell!”

“Shut the fuck up Lucas,” Nathan bitched slamming the ball into his brother’s stomach.

“Well it’s true,” Lucas chuckled tucking the ball under his pillow. “Ever since Carrie moved back in your sex life has gone straight in the shitter, and your tempers gone through the roof. You trying to tell me there’s no connection there?” Lucas laughed at Nathan’s fuming figure flopping harshly back on his bed.

“I’m getting some,” he mumbled flipping through the channels, barely pausing long enough to see what was on them.

“Just not every night – yeah - I really feel sorry for you. I’m lucky if I get it once a month,” Lucas grumbled going back to typing his history paper.

“I miss her,” he mumbled again before settling on The Price is Right.

“You miss her,” Lucas repeated incredulous. “Damn Nathan you see the girl ten times a damn day, how the hell can you miss her?”

“I can’t sleep with her since dipshit moved back in. I got used to it. I sleep better with her in the bed.”

“Who are you?” Lucas stared at him, his mouth gaping. “I swear to god I never thought I’d see Nathan Scott so damn whipped. Holy crap – you should hear yourself. You’re pathetic! ‘I sleep better with her’”, Lucas mocked with a whiny voice. “What a loser. What are you going to do this summer when she’s in Mayberry and you’re in Tree Hill? Better get used to it sissy boy it’s only a couple of weeks away. And of course just to remind you…next semester - when she gets a new roommate who actually lives there on a permanent basis…yeah – no nightly nookie or cuddles under the covers all night then either. Jeesh! Wimp, wimp, wimp!” Lucas laughed, glancing over at Nathan who was staring intently at the ceiling.

“I’ve been thinking about that,” he said quietly. “I was thinking about asking her to move in with me next semester. Get our own apartment,” he half asked, looking at Lucas for his reaction.

“You mean live together? You think you guys are ready for that?” Lucas questioned.

“Hell I don’t know. I know I can’t stand this arrangement. I’m spoiled okay…I admit it. I got spoiled being with her every night. All I know is this sucks. She probably won’t go for it anyway,” he grumbled slipping his shoes on. “I’ll see ya later,” slamming the door behind him.

He’d been pushing thoughts of a summer spent apart for days at a time to the back of his mind for weeks. He did feel like a total wimp. If someone had told him a year ago he’d be whiney and depressed over not getting to sleep - actually sleep -, in the same bed as some girl he’d have laughed his ass off at them, but here he was, whiney and depressed, because he couldn’t sleep with a girl. Get a grip man he complained to himself.

“Hey…what are you doing out here?” he asked seeing Haley leaned up against a tree in the courtyard outside her dorm, her history book opened across her lap, scribbling notes in the notebook propped on top of the book.

“She crying again,” she complained rolling her eyes.

“Holy crap again! She’s been crying for the past two weeks. I can’t believe she has any tears left. Why doesn’t she just tell the guy she’s sorry and move back in. Hell I’ll help her pack, and drive her there too,” he chuckled dropping down beside her leaving a kiss on her cheek.

“She did – about twenty times. He’s apparently not accepting her apology.”

“So she kissed another guy, big deal. It’s not like she slept with him or anything,” he groused tossing stray nuts at the squirrels that scampered by.

“Big deal…I’m sure that’s the reaction I’d get if I kissed another guy,” she said with a small huff.

“Well ones you and ones her. I want her ass out, so I don’t give a shit if she kissed or screwed the entire seventh fleet as long as she moves back out. Forgive and forget I say,” he chuckled.

“Whatever,” Haley mumbled at his false forgiving attitude.

“Why – you don’t think I’m the forgiving kind?” he smirked.

“When it comes to kissing another guy…ummm no – I don’t. Besides she said it didn’t mean anything. I don’t know,” she groaned trying to concentrate on her history once more.

“Didn’t mean anything? You think there’s such a thing as a meaningless kiss? Haley?”

“Hmmm?” she mumbled.

“Do you?” getting agitated at her ignoring his question.

“Do I what?” she finally said looking at him with her own aggravation, she really needed to be concentrating on History right now.

“Think there’s such a thing as a meaningless kiss?”

“I don’t know. I’ve never thought about it. Probably not. I mean why would you kiss someone if you didn’t want to. And if someone kissed you, and you didn’t want them too, I would think a good smack across the face or a swift knee to the nuts would prove it. I don’t know,” she shrugged. “She says she was half drunk anyway so who knows what it meant.”

“It meant she wanted to kiss the guy that’s what it meant. Of course, I’m thinking the fact that both of their shirts were off may have pissed him off more than the kiss,” he laughed trying to find a comfortable spot on the tree trunk for himself.

“I’m sure that didn’t help,” Haley giggled along with him.

He kept tossing nuts at the squirrels trying to build up the courage to bring up next years living arrangements. He was almost certain she’d balk at the idea.

He’d always thought of himself as a strong person, an independent person, a loner almost…till Haley walked into his world and now he was weak and dependent and needy. It was official, he was a wimp.

“So…summers coming up,” he started obscurely.

“Well let’s see…it’s May, it’s hot already, I’m wearing shorts – as are you. Yep it’s almost summer alright,” she smiled patting him lightly on the leg.

“Any plans?”

“Go home, get a job…get a cell phone plan that has a million minutes a month on it so I can talk to you twenty times a day, and fall asleep listening to you breathe on the other end,” she giggled dropping a kiss on the head of his slumped figure.

“All we need to do is get phones with the same provider Hales…unlimited mobile to mobile remember?” he smiled up at her.

“Oh yeah,” she giggled again. “You switch.”

“Okay,” he muttered pushing himself up pressing his lips to hers. Her book and papers were getting crushed between their bodies; Nathan reached down and flung them aside, pulling her body tighter to his.

“Be careful with my stuff,” Haley mumbled against his lips before easing her tongue into his mouth.

“Let’s go back to my room,” he said with a husky whisper trailing kisses down her neck, his hand brushing across her butt holding her tighter to him.

“Nathan,” pulling her mouth from his, “watch the hands, it’s broad daylight, not to mention there’s people walking by left and right,” she mumbled to him unsuccessfully attempting to move his hand.

“I don’t care,” he mumbled back taking her mouth again, squeezing her butt tighter.

“God you’re such an exhibitionist,” she griped pushing herself out of his grasp.

“Come on Hales, I miss you,” he whined trying to pull her back to him.

“I have a final tomorrow Nathan,” she said settling herself back upright reluctantly glancing at his pouty face. “What about Lucas?” she sighed straightening her papers and books.

“Where are you?” he asked quickly.

“On my way to eat with Jake why?”

“Stay gone.”

“Put a sock on the doorknob,” Lucas laughed, Jake laughing too, needing no clarification.

“I’m not putting some stupid ass sock on the doorknob, just call before you come back – if I don’t answer, don’t come back. And eat slowly or go do something else afterwards,” he said, brushing off his shorts, pulling Haley up. “He’s all gone,” he smiled at her.

“You’re so subtle,” she grumbled letting him pull her along.

He stopped taking in her annoyed expression, “Don’t let me force you Haley,” he said letting go of her hand, “if you’d rather study then go ahead.”

“Oh my god Nathan – can you say passive aggressive – jeez!”

“Haley…shit just forget it, I’ll see you later,” stalking away.

“Nathan Scott you stop right there,” she shouted after him - he never slowed down. “I said stop!” she shouted louder, everyone passing by gawking at them.

“What!” he shouted back whirling around to her.

She stomped over to him, books in one hand, the other hand on her hip, glaring up into his face. “What is your problem?”

“You don’t want to, that’s okay Haley. No big deal. Just go back to studying, and I’ll see you later alright?” trying to keep his voice even and controlled. The last thing he wanted to do was create a damn scene over wanting sex.

“I didn’t say I didn’t want to. I always want to. Why are you so touchy?” softening her tone, taking his hand in hers.

He slipped his hand behind her neck, resting his forehead against hers, “I miss you Hales that’s all. These last couple of weeks have been hard for me. I hate not waking up with you, and going to sleep without you – I love you Haley. I just love you. I’m sorry I’m such a damn baby,” he sighed dropping a light kiss on her lips.

“I’ve missed you too. It’s hard to sleep with all that room,” she smiled against his mouth. “Come on,” tugging him behind her. “Come on, come on, move it,” she teased tugging him harder.

Nathan was getting more agitated by the second. Left, right…no left…your other left! Crap this was ridiculous. “Give Lucas the damn map Peyton! Damn it! It can’t be that hard, this place is smaller than Tree Hill for crap’s sake!”

“What street are we on?” Lucas asked trying to read the passing street sign.

“Spruce!” Brooke yelled from the back. “The same street we were on like five minutes ago…and it was wrong then too,” she mumbled, checking her make up yet again.

“Spruce? There’s no Spruce on here…oh wait there it is. We were supposed to turn right three blocks back,” he told Nathan looking over his shoulder shaking his head at Peyton. “You could get lost in a paper sack Peyton.”

“Bite me,” she huffed, straightening her shirt, running a nervous hand through her hair.

“Left…third house on the right,” Lucas said. “There it is 510 Maple –stop. Thank god. Everybody get out. Jesus!”

Nathan let out a huge breath trying to calm his frazzled nerves. Whoever gave Peyton the map needed to be beaten!

“Okay…Jakes across the street – over there, get lost Peyton. Greg lives behind her…see the house back there – see ya Brooke. Let’s go Lucas,” he said pulling Lucas with him.

“Whoa! I am not tromping across two yards to get to Greg’s. Not in these shoes I’m not. Forget it. You can drive me around or I’ll drive myself around, but I ain’t walking,” she griped folding her arms across her chest determined to get her way.

“Hey!” Haley squealed tearing down the front steps, Jake and Greg following closely behind her, launching herself into Nathan’s arms, “I love you, I love you, I love you,” she kept repeating smashing kisses all over his face.

“I love you too,” he laughed between kisses.

“Enough PDA,” Lucas grumbled feeling like a third wheel with all the kissing going on around him…Jake had Peyton in a tight clasp their lips locked together, while Brooke had her legs wrapped around Greg’s waist kissing him like they were the only ones around.

“Sorry,” Haley giggled letting go of Nathan, grabbing Lucas in a tight hug kissing his cheeks. “There…how’s that?”

“Enough is what that is,” Nathan grumbled pulling her back to him.

“So how do you fellas like your steaks?” Haley’s father asked fiddling with the knobs on the grill.

“Medium rare I guess,” Nathan answered trying to get his legs to stop with the nervous jumping they were doing.

“That sounds good to me too,” Lucas said giving Nathan’s crazy leg movements a sideways glance.

“Not quite mooing but definitely groaning loudly,” he chuckled; Haley rolled her eyes at his lame joke, sighing again at the ‘Kiss the Cook’ apron he insisted on wearing.

Haley stared at Nathan’s legs shaking away next to her, a small smile crossing her face as she watched them move, his thumb tapping non-stop on his thigh, his jaw clenching, his eyes glued to some arbitrary spot in the middle of the yard. She reached over taking one of his hands with hers, smiling wider at the way his eyes shot over at the touch. ‘Relax’ she mouthed to him, squeezing his hand tighter. He let loose a light sigh trying to return her smile.

He didn’t do parents. Especially girl’s parents, most of whom were none to thrilled that he was with their daughter. His current state was further proof of why he didn’t do parents. He was about to pop out of his skin, not to mention he could feel himself sweating…great he was going to be completely covered in flop sweat any minute now, wiping at his forehead with the back of his hand.

“Jimmy – it’s your mother,” Lydia groaned handing him the phone.

“She doesn’t like me,” she whispered to Nathan and Lucas. “Over thirty-five years of marriage and she still refers to me as ‘the wife’,” she smiled at them. “She moved to Raleigh a couple of years ago to live with his sister. One of the happiest days of my life,” she laughed straightening out the table cloth she’d just spread out on the patio table. “Would you two like a beer?”

“Oh umm…I umm,” Nathan stammered looking quickly at Lucas. He wanted to scream yes, but didn’t want her thinking he was some sort of under aged lush. God knows he needed something to help him relax.

“I know you’re only nineteen, but you’re not driving anywhere – I mean if you go to Jake’s or Greg’s it’s a lot quicker to walk,” she chuckled. “And I was young once too you know. I’m sure this won’t be your first one. I figure you’re in college what the heck.”

Haley tried to bite off the giggle their flustered expressions were causing. “It’s okay,” she smiled at them.

“Yes,” they said together.

“You didn’t bring me one,” Haley griped watching her mother hand the guys their beers.

“You’re not twenty-one yet,” her mother smiled at her. “So…you two are brothers huh?” she said ignoring Haley’s groan and eye roll.

“Yes ma’am,” Nathan answered trying not to laugh at the way Haley was glaring at her mother.

“You’re not twins, but you’re the same age? That’s confusing…how’d your mother manage that one?”

“Mom!”

“What? I just wondered…I mean it’s kind of hard to have two different kids born in the same year. I know it’s possible, but not easy I would think,” she smiled at them. “So…what’s the scoop?”

“I’d like to hear this one myself,” Haley’s father chimed in from behind them, tossing the phone in a chair.

“You two are so embarrassing,” Haley mumbled rubbing a frustrated hand through her hair, both Nathan and Lucas laughing at her. The questions were status quo for them. They’d answered them a hundred times.

“We’re actually half brothers. We have the same father. He kind of had a…prolific year I guess you could say,” Nathan chuckled.

“Indeed he did,” Lydia laughed. “So who’s to blame for three Tree Hill kids ending up with three Mount Airy kids?”

“Haley,” Nathan smirked.

“I already told you how I met Nathan, Mom. I just introduced Greg and Jake to Brooke and Peyton and…here we all are,” she smiled.

“What about poor Lucas here? He needs someone too you know,” Lydia offered going back to laying out the dishes on the table.

“It’s really okay Mrs. James, I’m just fine without a girlfriend,” Lucas laughed.

“There are other girls up there from Mount Airy too Haley. You could introduce Lucas to one of them. Isn’t Kathy Mitchell up there? Or…oh what’s her name…the tall blonde girl…Shelby, Shelby Howell, isn’t she there too? Introduce him to one of them.”

“Mom…god please,” Haley groaned at her mother’s meddling. “Kathy Mitchell still has her braces on for god’s sake, and Shelby…Shelby is a ‘ho and a half – Lucas doesn’t need her,” rolling her eyes at the thought.

“What’s her name again?” Lucas asked, all of them breaking out in laughter.

Haley was trying to slip quietly down the hall, not an easy task considering every board in the floor creaked and groaned in her old house. She jumped at the loud pop of the last one, she thought she had the boards memorized…she forgot about that one. Ugh!

She opened her brothers old bedroom door to find Nathan laid out on his back soundly sleeping, Lucas on the twin bed across the room, buried in the mattress on his stomach, the pillow covering his head.

She crawled on the bed next to Nathan trying to squeeze herself into the last bit of space unoccupied by his body, running her hand lightly over his bare chest. He didn’t even flinch at her touch…she stared annoyed into his sleeping face. She had the urge to give him a good pinch, but resisted, he just looked too cute laying there.

“Hey,” she whispered leaving a light kiss on his ear. He twitched his nose and scratched at his ear, wiggling his back further into the mattress. “Hey,” she whispered louder holding his face, leaving a hard kiss on his cheek this time.

His eyes fluttered open slowly, a small smile starting across his face at the sight of her smiling broadly back at him. “What are you up to?” pulling her down onto his chest, dropping a kiss on her head.

“Get up, let’s go for a run,” rubbing her hand briskly over his chest, playfully popping the elastic on his boxers.

“Better watch it…you’re playing with fire there,” he chuckled.

“Don’t I know it,” she giggled back, jumping off the bed tugging on his arm. “What about him? Think he wants to go?” she nodded at Lucas who had curled up on his side hugging his pillow. “That so cute,” giggling at Lucas’ new position.

“Never say my sleeping brother is cute again,” he grumped throwing his legs over the side of the bed while he tried to rub the sleep from his head.

“Get dressed I’ll meet you downstairs,” she whispered giving him a quick kiss.

“I can tell you’ve been working hard at this,” he blew out slowing down to a walk.

“It’s a good way to work off pent up energy since I don’t have you around to…you know,” she smiled latching her arm through his, still working on recovering her breathing.

“Yeah I know,” he sighed. He’d been doing the same thing. Running early, running late, lifting weights, working extra hours for Keith at the dealership, anything to keep his mind busy. He hadn’t seen her in over three weeks, and if Lucas was any judge, he’d turned into a complete bastard.

“Okay Haley, where are you taking me? I was never a boy scout, so if we get lost, don’t expect me to find new uses for rocks and twigs to find our way out,” he grumbled following helplessly behind her as she continued to drag him by the hand through the woods. “And I can’t tell time by the sun either so…”

“Just hush and keep walking. I know where I’m going.”

“I hope so,” he grumbled again, swatting again at the bug that wouldn’t leave him alone.

“See…isn’t it beautiful?” she smiled up at him when they came out of the woods to find themselves on the shore of a crystal clear lake. The sun was barely up, not another soul in sight, the only sounds came from the birds calling to each other or the occasional fish popping out of the water.

“Wow Hales this is great,” he grinned back. “It really is beautiful. Is this Myers Lake…you know where Andy used to court Miss Crump?” he laughed, hugging her close to him when she gave him the look.

“Funny stuff there Scott,” rolling her eyes slapping at his chest. “Come on,” giving him a mischievous smile, leading him further down shore toward a small dock that ran out into the water.

She walked out to the end of the dock, taking a look around before quickly peeling off her damp shirt, slipping out of her shorts, her bra and panties landing beside them. “Come on,” she giggled diving into the water, coming up swiping a hand across her hair and face, laughing at the completely stunned look on Nathan’s face as he still stood transfixed in the same spot on the dock. “Well…get in bashful.”

“Jesus Haley,” holding his voice down, “what the hell…how do you know there’s not somebody out there in the woods watching you?” squinting back toward the woods searching for some sign of human life.

“The sun’s barely up Nathan, nobody’s here. You’d have a hard time finding anybody here at any time actually. Get in already. You of all people can not possibly be shy of a little skinny dipping…can you?” she teased slowly swimming closer to the dock. The outlines of her naked body much more evident to him through the clear water the closer she got, enticing him to take the plunge.

“I guess you’ve done this before huh?” he questioned more accusingly than he intended.

“Maybe,” she smiled wiping at her face again of the drops that kept draining down.

“Maybe? I’m pretty sure there’s no maybe about it,” he sighed, visions of exactly who she’d done it with passing irritatingly through his mind.

“I’ve done it before…not with a boy though, if that’s what you’re thinking. And from the looks of you, I’m not going to get to now either,” her frustration with his sudden modesty growing.

He took another quick look around before hastily dropping his clothes, diving into the water. “You didn’t warn me about how cold it is!” he yelped tossing the water from his hair.

“It’s not that bad,” smiling as she swam closer. “See there,” she whispered wrapping her arms around his neck, her legs around his waist, letting him tread water for the both of them as his arms wrapped around her waist. “It’s not so bad is it?” she purred taking his lips with hers.

“God I’ve missed you…missed this so much,” she moaned out, Nathan clutching her tighter to him, the water splashing further up around them, his panted breaths pushing her to the edge until her body shuddered with his, their cries of pleasure surely waking every living creature.

“I love you,” he said through heavy breaths, his lips melding with hers again. “I miss you so much Pinky,” he whispered resting his forehead against hers, their lips leaving soft pecks on the others already damp lips.

“I miss you too. I’m so glad you came,” she smiled the water between them parting as she pulled him into her, laying her head on his shoulder. “I love you.”

“I think I could end every run this way,” he laughed, loosening his arms from around her sinking slowly into the water. She jumped feeling one of his hands firmly grab her thigh, the other under her butt, finding herself suddenly being propelled swiftly out of the water, flying naked through the air as he tossed her with all his strength, Haley’s shrieking giggles filling the warm morning air.

“That was mean!” she laughed sputtering the water from her mouth, wiping again at her face.

“I know,” he smirked swimming hesitantly toward her, wondering what her retaliation was going to be. “I wish I had a video camera…your naked little body flying through the air, now that’s something I could watch over and over,” he laughed moving closer.

“Good Morning!” they heard the deep voice call out from the shore. “Haley? Is that you out there?” he asked.

“Oh…umm…yes it’s me. Hi,” she smiled waving lightly to the large man of about sixty standing with a fishing pole on the bank.

“Who the hell’s that?” Nathan whispered easing further out into the water, holding Haley’s hand under the water, pulling her with him, trying to make sure their bodies, hers especially couldn’t be seen through the clear water by the big old guy standing on the bank.

“Shhh,” she mumbled. “Looks like you’re going fishing?”

“Oh yeah. I’m here bright and early every morning. It’s Saturday so I slept in a little longer today. Gets the day off to a relaxing start,” he chuckled. “Who’s your friend?”

“Oh sorry…this is Nathan Scott. Nathan, this is Mr. Lowry…Greg’s dad.”

“Hi,” Nathan called to him with a tight smile.

“Nice to meet you Nathan. I’ve watched you play ball with Jake on television a few times. You’re quite the basketball player.”

“Thank you,” he returned, pulling Haley out a little further, wishing he’d head on to the fishing hole.

“How do you like Brooke, Mr. Lowry?” Haley asked politely, worrying Nathan was going to pull them out to the point of no return any minute. The further they went, the colder the water got – the goose bumps were forming.

“Would you quit with the small talk so he’ll go away,” Nathan mumbled to her.

“She’s just what Greg needs,” he laughed. “Not going to take any of his garbage that’s for sure. I like her real well, so does Carol. Sure is pretty, and just as sweet as she can be. What’s she’s doing with my bullheaded son is beyond me though,” he laughed again.

“Sweet? Are you sure we’re talking about the same Brooke?” Nathan mumbled to her again.

“Stop it,” Haley mumbled back. “She is sweet. I’m glad you guys like her.”

“Alright…well I’ll just move on down the bank a ways. I’ll see you later Haley. Nice to meet you Nathan. Bring him over later Haley, I’m sure Carol would love to meet him. We’ll see ya,” he smiled with a little wave, shuffling further down the bank until they couldn’t see him any longer.

“God almighty that was uncomfortable,” Nathan blew out. “You’re naked out here, Jesus! Thank God he slept in late today or he’d have gotten an eye full.”

“Oh stop it. He couldn’t see anything from way back there. We were going to have to get him to throw us a rope if you pulled us any further out. Besides our clothes were right there in front of him, it’s not like he didn’t know what was going on.”

“Knowing and seeing are two different things.”

“Whatever. He doesn’t care. Let’s go back and get some breakfast,” wrapping her arms around his neck letting him swim for both of them.

“I can see where Greg gets his size from,” he said trying to pull his clothes over his wet body, “that was one big man.”

“His mom’s not exactly a pip squeak either. I bet she’s close to six feet tall herself. Brooke probably feels like one of the munchkins around them,” she giggled, pulling at her uncooperative shirt.

They walked down her street, hand in hand, Haley leaning her body into his, enjoying the still quiet morning.

“Shit…I don’t believe it! Just great,” Haley griped shaking her head.

“What?”

“That car in the driveway…it’s my sister Taylor’s car. What the hell is she doing here? She hasn’t been home in forever, and she picks this weekend to drop by on her broom. This weekend just got shot to hell.”

“Taylor? What’s wrong with her? I mean you mentioned her, but never really said anything about her. What’s her deal?”

“She’s a bitch. That’s her deal,” she sighed getting a tight grip on his hand before throwing open the door.

They heard the peals of laughter coming from the kitchen, Taylor’s high pitched laugh and then a deeper one. Even better…she brought matching man ‘ho company Haley thought. The parents were going to love this.

They walked in the kitchen to find Taylor bent over digging around in the cabinet for a pan. Her ass was all but hanging out of her short shorts, her back shining out from under her cut off shirt, her legs a golden brown, her hair even blonder than the last time Haley had seen her. Haley had to fight the urge to cover Nathan’s eyes.

Too late, he’d seen it all; giving a tight smile to Haley’s pissed off expression. He tried his best to look like he wasn’t looking, but it was all just hanging out there…how could he not look. He wondered quickly what Haley would look like in such a get up, but decided just as quickly she’d be caught dead first. He draped his arm around Haley’s shoulder tugging her in tight, trying to give her a reassuring wink. Haley sighed in defeat. He came, he saw, he liked…just like every other damn male on the planet. And there was that deep laugh again, both of them turning to the kitchen table behind them to find none other than Lucas sitting there yucking it up with Taylor. He was sleeping, and she still managed to find the only other male not related to her in the house. She had a real knack for sniffing out the male species.

“Hi Taylor,” Haley said with zero enthusiasm.

“Well hey there little sis,” she beamed dropping the pan she’d finally recovered on the stove. “And who’s the stud?” her smile extending from ear to ear, holding her hand out to Nathan. “Hi I’m Taylor,” she purred.

“Nathan. Nice to meet you,” he returned giving her hand a quick shake before shoving his hand back in his pocket, keeping his eyes glued to her face.

“You’re wet. Let me guess…you’ve been down to Lowry’s lake?” she said with an amused smile, Haley giving her a fake one in return.

“So…you’re the new beau huh? I’ll say one thing for you Haley…you know how to pick ‘em. How a goody goody like you ends up with two studs in a row amazes the hell out of me. I thought David was hot, but I think Nathan here definitely gives him a run for his money - two for two…nice job Hales.”

She could feel Nathan stiffen beside her, wrapping both arms around her waist, holding her tighter to him.

And there it was. Haley had to fight back the laugh. Taylor had effectively killed all the attraction to her with one word. David. Nice going big sis – she wanted to take her into a big bear hug.

“How’d you manage to find Lucas, Taylor?” Haley asked tossing Nathan a bottle of water from the refrigerator, letting him pull her back into his arms.

“He was sitting in here with Mom when I got here, the poor thing – I rescued him,” she winked at Lucas.

“So she knows you’re here?”

“Yep. She went out to run some errands and Dad’s…somewhere, no telling. Aunt Sandy called this morning and Grandma’s on one of her tears so they’re going down to Raleigh later. She said they’d probably stay the night. Anyway, I’m just here for the weekend so don’t freak Haley.”

“So are they,” she returned annoyed Taylor was going to put a huge damper on her otherwise perfect weekend.

“Great,” she grinned back. “Over easy work for you gorgeous?” she asked Lucas. “How ‘bout you?” she smiled at Nathan.

“Nothing. Thanks,” he answered, settling into a chair, pulling Haley onto his lap.

“Let’s here your little story,” she smiled at Lucas laying the breakfast she’d prepared in front of him, taking up the chair beside him, smiling over waiting for him to start talking.

“I’m not sure what you want to hear,” Lucas smiled back at her, his eyes following her every move.

Haley wanted to mock a gag, but decided against it. Why Taylor had bothered to sit in her own chair was beyond her. Why didn’t she just straddle his lap and lay one on him.

“Where are you from, why are you hanging with little miss perfect, blah, blah, blah,” she smiled taking another bite of her eggs.

Lucas let out a slightly nervous laugh. If this girl kept up with the digs at Haley she was going to incur the wrath of Nathan he knew. He cut his eyes over to Nathan before beginning…his jaw was already clenching. Great.

“Well let’s see…we’re from Tree Hill, which is over on the coast. We met Haley through a couple of friends of ours that live across the hall from her. Well…that’s how I met her; Nathan has a class with Haley so that’s how they met. We both play basketball for the Tarheels…”

“Basketball!” Taylor laughed out. “God Haley…not again! A basketball stud again! Haven’t you ever heard variety is the spice of life? Branch out a little Hales. Try a baseball player or something. Jeez! Are you seeing the pattern here Hales? David was hot…Nathan’s hot, David plays basketball…Nathan plays basketball, David…”

“You can drop the comparison shit,” Nathan ground out, having enough of hearing the name David mentioned in any context whatsoever.

Taylor held his glare for a few moments before she let loose a small chuckle, smiling at him, receiving nothing but a hard stare in return. “Okay,” she shrugged, turning back to Lucas.

Nathan nudged Haley up off his lap, taking her hand leading her from the kitchen. It hadn’t been fifteen minutes and he’d had his fill of Taylor already.

“Sorry…I had to get out of there before I said something I’d regret,” he sighed running a frustrated hand through his hair. “I see the bitch factor.”

“She can be a little overbearing. Sorry about that.”

“She and I are going to go to fist city if she keeps saying shit about you. Not to mention her constant David, David, David crap - that’s not going to work with me either,” he bit out, his pacing rate picking up.

“Just ignore her. I think you may want to worry about Lucas though,” she said with a light laugh. “I think she already has a hook in him, now all she has to do is reel him in - which from the looks of it isn’t going to be hard.”

Nathan couldn’t stop the pacing. Just knowing David was in the same town…alone…with Haley all summer had him aggravated half the time, he didn’t need this Taylor bitch reminding him. “Lucas can take care of himself. Are you sure your sisters?”

“Unfortunately yes,” she giggled grabbing his arm to stop his pacing, pulling him into a tight hug, “I love you.”

“I know,” he sighed with a small smile, kissing her head. “I love you too.”

They all sat around the table with varying amused looks, well except Nathan. Nothing about Taylor amused him. He just watched uninterested - Lucas and Taylor grinding on each other in the middle of the dance floor - ho hum. She was a slut, Lucas hadn’t had any in a while…what was so interesting about that.

“I don’t see how you can grind like that to country music,” Brooke asked perplexed as she watched them go at it. “I don’t think they’re exactly keeping with the beat…at least they could grind to the beat,” she laughed.

“She could grind to silence,” Greg offered shaking his head at the complete slut Taylor still was.

“Could she now?” Brooke returned quirking an eyebrow at him.

“From what I’ve heard,” Greg smiled popping a kiss on her lips.

“So this clubs…interesting,” Peyton smiled drumming her fingers nervously on the table. The hats and boots and overweight women poured into their Rockies shuffling all around her.

“It’s all we’ve got for a club around here Peyton…sorry,” Jake smiled wrapping his arms tighter around her waist where she sat in his lap. “And they don’t card either. If you’ve got the five dollar cover charge you’re in. And if you’re in…you can drink,” he shrugged.

“I’m not complaining…just observing,” she smiled back.

“You want to dance?” Haley asked.

“You know I’m not much of a dancer Hales. And I don’t know the first thing about country dancing. I think maybe we should just watch…or play pool?” he smiled hopefully grabbing her hand, tugging her with him to the pool tables.

“You some sort of pool shark too?” she laughed watching Nathan send another ball down the hole.

“We had a pool table,” he shrugged, walking around the table analyzing his next shot.

“And a pool, and a hot tub, and a beach, and cars, and multiple houses, and…”

“Hales…”

“Sorry…I just want to be good at something,” she pouted.

He pulled her into his chest, his arms snaking around her, his lips taking over hers, “oh I know something you’re really good at,” he smirked, taking over her lips again, his hand traveling down to rub her butt.

“She’s got a nice ass doesn’t she,” they heard the deep chuckle behind them. “Always one of my favorite parts I know.”

She had no idea where he came from. She hadn’t seen him…not a sign. Didn’t see any of his regular friends there, none of the girls he’d always hung with. He just seemed to suddenly…appear. Had he been there the whole time, sitting in a darkened corner watching them? Had he got soused somewhere else, and just now stumbled in?

Haley pulled away from Nathan, holding tightly to his arm. Nathan slowly turned his head; complete rage in his eyes as he took in David’s swaying figure standing grinning behind them.

“Have you fucking lost your mind man? Don’t even think about starting some shit ‘cause I’ll fucking beat your ass so bad you will land in the hospital this time. Keep moving,” Nathan growled moving toward him, Haley held tighter to his arm trying to make him stop.

“Don’t,” she whispered. Nathan stopped glancing briefly down at her.

“Keep moving? You telling me what to do…in my town Scott? I don’t think so,” his words half slurred, stepping unsteadily closer to Nathan.

Nathan let a small smile cross his lips watching David trying to keep him in focus. “I’m going to let it go. You’re so drunk you wouldn’t even be a challenge…kind of like on the court,” he chuckled unamused.

“Awww how sweet. You’re going to listen to your little girlfriend. That’s so whipped of you. Of course it’s easy to get whipped by that ass. Talk about sweet…now that was one sweet piece of ass,” he smiled winking at Haley.

Nathan didn’t hesitate. He’d no sooner uttered the last sound when his fist landed like an earthquake across David’s jaw, grabbing his shirt before he could fall backward. He turned him quickly pushing him against the pool table so he wouldn’t fall, his fists landing over and over on his face and body before he felt some arms pulling him back, pinning his own arms behind him, struggling to wrestle himself free from them. His fury was so intense he couldn’t catch his breath. No matter how hard he jerked or how loud he yelled the arms weren’t letting him go.

“Settle down man,” he heard Greg mumble in his ear. “Take it easy,” he said quietly, his voice actually taking a soothing tone. “Felt good didn’t it?” he chuckled lightly in his ear, never loosening his grip, watching the bar bouncers help David to his feet.

The bouncers didn’t say a word, but gave Greg a nod he clearly understood. It wasn’t the first one he’d received from them. None of them ever had the nerve to take Greg on, he was every bit as big if not bigger than they were, only younger and stronger. He’d always responded to their words or looks, and now was no different.

“You have to leave Nathan,” he said calmly, easing his hold on him for the first time.

Nathan jerked his arms away from him, tugging at his twisted shirt, letting go a hard sigh before turning back to Greg. He shook his head, running a frustrated hand through his hair, tugging on his shirt again, another long sigh escaping before his eyes landed on Haley’s worried face.
“I’m sorry,” he mumbled to her.

“I’m not,” her arms wrapped tightly around his waist, laying her head against his chest, she could feel his heart still pounding at a furious rate. “Are you okay?” she asked softly, inspecting his hands, kissing them lightly. The knuckles were red and swelling, a few small cuts appearing across them.

“I’m fine. I have to leave,” he said, noticing a couple of the bouncers standing against the wall with their arms folded across their chest watching…waiting for him to make his exit.

“We’re gonna go,” she smiled at the others. “Thanks,” she said slipping her arm around Greg’s shoulders where he’d resumed his place at the table, laughing with Brooke like nothing had ever happened.

“Not a problem,” he winked at her, bumping fists with Nathan. “See you guys later.”

She came back to her room carrying two bags of ice. He was stretched out on her bed staring passively at the ceiling. She laid a towel across his stomach, gently setting both of his hands on the towel before placing the bags of ice lightly over his knuckles. She wordlessly tapped his side; Nathan scooted over to give her some room to lie beside him, never taking his eyes from the ceiling.

She ran her fingers lightly through his hair, making it perfect again before they stroked softly down his cheek, Nathan closed his eyes at her touch.

“Guess it’s a good thing your parents are gone huh?” his voice quiet.

“Wouldn’t have been a big deal. My father would have probably broken out in cheers, sat on the edge of his seat begging for a blow by blow replay. He wasn’t a big fan,” dropping a kiss on his cheek. “You’re face is still perfect,” she smiled leaving a light kiss on his lips.

“It’s hard to get messed up when the other guys so drunk all he can hit is air,” he sighed.

“He started it Nathan,” she grumbled worried he was about to start blaming himself.

“He was completely wasted. He couldn’t have beaten a first grader. Pathetic,” he sighed again. “I just couldn’t stop myself. What he said…I…I just couldn’t let that go Haley. I’m sorry if I embarrassed you.”

“Well I guess we’re almost even now. I mean you actually kicked somebody’s ass over me, and I almost kicked somebody’s ass over you. Actually beats almost, so it looks like I still owe some girl a good ass whoopin’,” she said breaking out in a fit of giggles at the idea.

“If I’d only known I was getting involved with such a little bad ass,” he chuckled, shaking a hand out from under the ice, wiping it on the towel before reaching up to brush her hair back, tucking it behind her ear for her.

“If you’d only known…what? What would you have done? Not try to stick your hand up my shirt the first night you were alone with me for fear I’d smack you?” she smirked down at him.

He squinted, twisting his mouth around like he was pondering the question, “No, I still would have tried,” he smirked back. “If I’d known…I wouldn’t have done anything different, I would have still fallen crazy in love with you,” he smiled, his hand sliding behind her neck pulling her lips down to his.

Haley grabbed the towel tossing it off his stomach, the ice bags flying off with it, climbing on top of him, never breaking their kiss.

“Ahhh,” she squealed jumping and giggling when his hands worked their way up her back, “you’re hands are cold!”

“Sorry,” he chuckled pulling them back out, tucking them between his back and the comforter trying to warm them.

“Hmmm no hands…I like that. Now I can have my way with you,” she smiled wiggling her eyebrows at him as she sat straddled across him, tugging his belt open, popping the button on his pants, the zipper slowly coming down. She slipped her shirt off over her head tossing it to the floor, her bra following quickly behind it.

“I need some hands,” he groaned his breaths coming faster as he watched her, pulling his hands out from behind his back.

“No, no, no,” Haley smiled holding them down, “just put them right back till I say they’re warm enough…go ahead,” she instructed.

“This isn’t fair Haley…they’re warm I promise,” he whined lifting his hips to make it easier for her to remove his pants. She hopped off the end of the bed pulling his shoes off, tugging his pants off over his feet, her smile growing as she watched him watch her slip her own pants down, dropping her panties on top of his pants. “They’re warm,” he repeated through a husky breath.

“Not yet,” she smiled straddling him again, “shirt,” she said pulling at the hem of his. He rose up enough to let her get it out from under him, a small smile forming at the way she tossed it across the room.

“Now?” his voice almost begging. He couldn’t take her naked body straddled across him much longer without combusting.

“Nope…not yet,” she whispered taking over his mouth with hers, her tongue tracing a wet line across his lips before easing it between his parted lips. Their lips worked hotly together, her teeth grazing across his bottom lip, sucking lightly on it.

“God Hales…please…I need some hands,” his groans growing more intense as her mouth opened wider moving wet and slick across his jaw, down his neck, and across his chest, her tongue swirling around his nipples, “Haley…,”

“What?” she asked with a light smile, her hands caressing his cheeks peering into his lust filled eyes, his breaths panted. “You want to touch huh?”

“Yes I do,” he breathed out starting to untuck his hands; Haley reached down stilling his movements, Nathan’s eyes flashed back to hers. “I swear to God they’re warm,” he half growled at her.

“I’m sure they are…I’m pretty sure you’re warm all over,” she smiled, tugging down at his boxers. Nathan didn’t make any movements to help her…his eyes challenging hers. “Oh…so you’re going to play hard to get now,” she teased. “Okay,” she shrugged, her hands pressing into his shoulders as she hovered her breasts above him before dipping down letting them brush across his face, pressing them more firmly into him. Nathan’s moans grew more intense, his mouth capturing one, sucking and licking at it, Haley’s own moans mingled with his, moving her other breast to his mouth for equal treatment.

She felt him shifting around under her, working his boxers down, her lips forming a small smile at his movements.

She slowly disentangled her breasts from his mouth, Nathan moaned again at the loss of the softness against his face, his lips and tongue now trailing around her stomach that was leaning across him. She opened her nightstand, smiling wide at him as she held the condom up to him.

“You have your own stash huh?” barely hiding his misplaced annoyance through his panted breaths.

“Actually I drove to the next town over last week to get them,” she blushed with a small giggle. “I was too chicken to get them here – I know way too many people in the stores around here.”

“I don’t know if we need it…I mean I can’t touch you, and that would definitely be touching.”

“You’re so sensitive,” smiling lightly down at him before pressing her lips to his again. “You can touch now,” she sighed out. He couldn’t move his hands fast enough, and Haley couldn’t help the smile that covered her face or the moans that escaped her lips at the way his mouth and hands were moving over her, leaving no part of her untouched.

“I’m guessing we’ll never try the whole handcuff fantasy,” she sighed contently against his damp chest, dropping a kiss on the heartbeat she could feel thumping rapidly against her face.

“I’m sure as hell not wearing them. This…this just…this no touching…too hard for me. Sorry. Not that is wasn’t fun…but I need to touch you, especially when your straddled across me stark naked. You’re body it to hot not to touch,” smiling, his fingers stroking through her hair.

Haley still lay on top of him, both of them about to doze off when she heard the wild laughter coming from down the hall. She raised her head slightly, turning her eyes up to Nathan who just shrugged back at her.

“Please tell me she didn’t drag some man ‘ho back here with her?” Haley complained rolling to the side of him.

“Who knows,” he mumbled closing his eyes again, his arms tightening around her, Taylor’s laugh filling the air again.

“I’m gonna go see. She just can’t bring some freaky stranger in the house. She should have gone back to his place,” grumbling to herself, throwing on Nathan’s shirt.

“You’ve got to be kidding Haley. Don’t go down there. It’s probably Lucas anyway,” he chuckled.

“Please. Lucas can not possibly be that dumb to fall into bed with my skanky sister,” rolling her eyes at the craziness of the idea.

“He’s been with worse,” he mumbled chuckling again, turning on his side, pulling the comforter over him closing his eyes once more.

Haley stomped down the hall rapping firmly on Taylor’s closed door. The laughing coming from the inside stopped. She couldn’t believe her nerve…shows up out of the blue…brings some pervert into the house...

“What?” Taylor asked annoyed, poking her head out the door, her shirt held up against her obviously bare chest.

Haley took her in with a wide mouth before gathering her senses again, “Would you come out her please,” she snapped at her.

“Haley…god,” she said squeezing through the crack in the door, the shirt still clutched to her. “What do you want…I’m kind of busy,” she bit out.

“I was going to ask if you had a man in there, but I can already tell that’s a stupid question. What are you thinking Taylor…bringing some stranger into the house? God…how do you know he’s not some pervert or ax murderer or something? I swear some day you’re going to get some disease Taylor. Get him out of here,” she snarled under her breath.

“I’m entitled to some fun too Haley. God knows you had some,” she quipped back, Haley narrowing her eyes at her.

“What did you say?” she gritted back.

“Oh Nathan, oh, oh, oh god, oh god Nathan, oh god, oh god, oh Nathan, ohhhh you’re so big,” she said through mocked moans, giving her a false smile when she’d finished. “Sound familiar?” she chirped.

“YOU…I can’t believe you! What’d you do, stand outside listening?”

“I didn’t have to Haley, the neighbors could here you. Jesus you’re loud. He must be something else. By the way…way to many oh god’s…try another passion cry. That one was getting old.”

Haley stared at her aghast, her mouth hanging wide. “I did not say you’re so big!”

“Well…true, but you didn’t have to…I saw his feet,” she smiled at her again.

Haley drew in a sharp breath. It was all she could do not to reach out and jerk a big handful of hair out of her bleach blonde head. She narrowed her eyes again, stepping closer, her finger pointing up in her face, “You stay away from his feet!” she growled at her.

“I’m not interested in his feet. He’s way too…intense or crabby or something – so not my type. Although his defending your honor by kicking David’s ass…a total turn on. Now if you don’t mind…I’d like to check out his brother’s feet – so get lost,” she snapped at Haley turning to go back in the room.

“That’s Lucas in there?” Haley asked stunned.

“Yeah…I hope he’s not an ax murderer, but I wouldn’t mind him being a pervert,” she laughed disappearing behind her door.

Haley stomped back down the hall to her room, slamming it behind her, startling Nathan out of his sleep.

“Damn Haley, did you have to slam it? Get over here,” he mumbled weakly waving her over.

“It is Lucas. I thought he had better sense,” climbing in pulling the covers up around her with a huff. “Are you listening to me?”

“Um humm, it’s Lucas. I figured it was,” he muttered into his pillow.

“I can’t believe he’s that dumb,” she griped folding her arms across her chest with another huff. “Oh by the way, I got a blow by blow replay of our sex from Taylor. Apparently I’m too loud…and I say oh god too much,” she blew out completely irritated.

“Mmm.”

“Am I too loud? Do I say oh god too much?” she whined twisting around to look at his face.

“No, absolutely not. I like you loud, and I don’t care what you say as long as it’s not stop,” he chuckled pulling her tighter into his chest leaving a kiss on her head, “please go to sleep Haley.”

Haley had her arm wrapped snugly around his waist, Nathan’s around her shoulders as they walked slowly to his car. The weekend had been way too short for everyone. Even Lucas and Taylor seemed disappointed it was over.

“So you’re going to talk to them about it?” he quietly asked her.

“Yeah, but I wouldn’t hold out much hope. I can already hear the ‘we’re too young, we haven’t known each other long enough, not to mention the ‘you’re not married’. I need their help Nathan. My scholarship doesn’t cover everything, and I’m afraid if I moved in with you against their will they wouldn’t pay so…I don’t know,” she shrugged disappointed.

“I can pay for it you know.”

“I’m not letting you do that.”

“Okay…let’s just hope they say yes,” he smiled down at her, his thumbs rubbing lightly over her cheek before kissing her softly. “See you in Tree Hill in a couple of weeks?”

“I’ll be there - lugging the other two with me I’m sure,” smiling at how the others were all hugged up just like she and Nathan were.

“Good, see you then. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“Lucas…let’s go,” Nathan called to him before climbing in.

Lucas pulled Taylor into a tight hug, “Thanks Taylor. I had a good time this weekend. I was kind of dreading it actually, but you made it much better, thank you,” he chuckled to her.

“I haven’t had this much fun at home in ages so thank you. It was really great Lucas…thanks,” she smiled hugging him again.

“If you’re ever in Chapel Hill stop by alright?”

“I might just take you up on that,” she said with a flirty wink.

Nathan stopped at the stop sign, his smirk growing into a smile as he looked at Lucas. Lucas felt his eyes on him giving in to looking over at him, both of them breaking out into a full laugh, bumping fists with each other, “thanks for the invite man,” he and Nathan laughing again, while Peyton and Brooke rolled their eyes in disgust from the back seat.
